Today, on International Women's Day, I want to celebrate women in negotiation—those who have shaped history, led high-stakes deals, and made their mark in diplomacy, business, and politics. But also those making their first steps in the art and science of negotiation.
Having spent years negotiating with female professionals and training many in my workshops, I’ve learned a lot. Some of them were tough—really tough. And that’s a good thing.
As a father of two daughters, I know what I’m talking about!
Here’s what makes female negotiators stand out:
✅ They know how to play on emotions—not in a manipulative way, but in a way that builds rapport and influence.
✅ They are usually very clear on what they want—no vague goals, no hesitation.
✅ They can juggle multiple topics at once, increasing the overall value of the deal.
✅ They are more direct and less prone to unnecessary small talk, making negotiations more efficient.
I honestly wish there were more of them. If you are a female negotiator, know that you’re in great company. I’ve loved negotiating with you.
Happy International Women’s Day! Wishing you success, strength, and plenty of great deals on this wonderful spring day.
